A CAT IN PARIS (Une vie de chat)
Animation, Jean-Loup Felicioli & Alain Gagnol, France, 2011
Academy Award® nominated A CAT IN PARIS is the tale of Dino, the pet cat who leads two lives. By day, he lives with Zoe-- a young girl who, for reasons unknown, cannot speak and whose mother, Jeanne, is preoccupied by her work as a detective in the Parisian police force. Each night, Dino sneaks out to join Nico, a slinky burglar with a big heart. The cat's two world's collide when Zoe follows Dino on one of his nocturnal adventures. The young girl falls into the hands of her mother's nemesis, Victor Costa, a blustery gangster with a nasty past who is planning the theft of a rare statue.
Rife with film references, A CAT IN PARIS is a warm and richly humorous love letter to classic noir and American gangster films with a jazz soundtrack featuring Billie Holiday. The film also features the voices of Academy Award® winner Marcia Gay Harden, Academy Award® winner Anjelica Huston and Matthew Modine.
The film is rated PG for mild action and violence and some thematic material.
